Google Toolbar PageRank Update (New Years 2010)

Almost exactly like last year, Google is pushing out a New Years PageRank Update now. Mid-December we reported PageRank shifts or penalties and today, there are wide spread reports of a PageRank update in the Google Toolbar.

It is a bit funny, because last New Years, we reported in mid-December a PR shuffle and then on December 31, 2008 we reported an official PageRank update in the toolbar. It is almost exactly the same way this year. Today, December 31, 2009, we are reporting the 2010 New Years PageRank update.

The last toolbar PageRank update before today was in October. Like I always say, Toolbar PageRank is not of great use to SEOs. It is often months out of date and does not determine a rank of a web page. So please do not obsess over Toolbar PageRank.

For those who saw their toolbar PageRank go up, congrats on the 'badge' and here is to an even higher PR in 2010!

I can confirm the pagerank update. I was surprised to see my site jump from a 0 to 3. Happy new year Google!

my pr got down to 1 from 2. Now i can see my website is also delisted from google.com ( godandguru.com) the index page and some more pages are delisted. though some pages are coming up high in rankings. please help

I’m more concerned about why / how Google still use Page Rank to determine the Serps. I see very little change in the listings after a PR update, many times there is a jump around the link updates, but not any drastic shifts after the PR updates.

Yeah all my sites jumped. My main site went from a 2 to a 4 and my other sites jumped 1-3 spots as well! Maybe it's some kind of conspiracy by Google. I did notice they added some new back link sources(websites) that they did not have a few weeks back that are now showing up when I search for my links info.

Google really possess wide internet services. Maybe they are prioritizing some other services that many people want to use. It’s a New Year, It’ll be a new expedition for the Search Engine giant.

My site went from pr2 to pr3 in Jan 2010, hopefully it gets to pr5 this March. Hell, this business is getting risky.

There will probably be a minor toolbar update (such as internal page PR) before the next major one...

i've seen my PR display 'flickering' for the past week altho no change in rank just yet, however i do recall the same happening before the last change in PR Dec 2009. It must be anyday now... it may only be a badge yet that badge is fast becoming a measure of credibility that web services clients expect. good luck everyone.
