Spam Invades Gmail Users

If you take a look at the Gmail Help Forum you will notice dozens of threads with hundreds of posts about Google's spam filter failing in a major way. In addition, you can see hundreds of tweets about the issue this morning as well.

I cannot summarize all the thread, but here are the largest ones in that forum:

One of my Gmail accounts suffered from spam about a month ago, but it seems to be getting better now - or maybe I am used to the new spam.

It seems like something spiked up bad today, based on the volume of posts over the weekend.

No official word from Google on the topic yet. Hat tip to Gabs for encouraging me to write about this.

There is also a host of complaints about gmail spam on Reddit. I'd really like to see an analysis of the new methods that get spam through Gmail. It's like a continuing war but one side just effectively changed their tactics and we are blind to how it changed.

the entire front page of the gmail help forum is flooded but as far as i can see no reply from google. i can probably count on my hands how many spam messages have gotten through in my almost 5 years as a gmail user... i've been getting a ridiculous amount since Friday or so.

Yes, my email yabdulhak@gmail.com is messed up too and the spam filter doesnt work.
