Tomorrow is Google's 21st birthday and Google has already released its very own birthday Doodle to celebrate. The Doodle depicts a desktop computer from 1998 and the old Google home page and old Google logo.
Here is a higher resolution version of the Doodle that you can click on to enlarge:
There is some confusion as to when Google celebrates its birthday but over the years it has stuck to the 27th of September. Here is last years Doodle.
Google wrote:
21 years ago, two Stanford Ph.D. students, Sergey Brin and Lawrence (Larry) Page, published a paper about launching a prototype of a “large-scale search engine.”"We chose our systems name, Google, because it is a common spelling of googol, or 10100 and fits well with our goal of building very large-scale search engines,” the students wrote.
Today, Google operates all over the world in over 100 languages, answering trillions of search queries each year.
The scale is large, to say the least.
Happy 21st Birthday, Google!
Where would we all be without Google?
