Google Search Product Listings Tests Linking Directly To Merchant Site

Google is now testing linking the product and shopping results within Google Search directly to the merchant or retailer website. This is instead of Google opening the side panel with more details about the product.

Google tested this within Google Shopping last June and is now testing this in the core web search results.

This was spotted by Brodie Clark who posted about this on X and on SERPalerts and wrote, "They're now making it so that clicking on product grid free listing results takes you directly to the product page, instead of displaying the product overlay experience with multiple retailers."
