Above is a copy of the animated version of the Google Doodle just published on Google's home page. It is for the New Horizons Pluto flyby happening Tuesday morning.

The New Horizons set off nine years ago and three billion miles ago is will be flying by Pluto and its five moons in just a short while. This space probe was launched by NASA's New Frontiers program. It should do the flyby tomorrow, on July 14, 2015 11:49:57 UTC or 07:49:57 EDT, which is about 11 hours away from the time I published this.

It flies through space at about 31,000 miles per hour, with 3 million miles and 9 years under it's belt.

It will take pictures at an up close range, which will be the first of its kind.

Communication of the New Horizons meet up with Pluto won't reach Earth until 9pm EDT Tuesday, so the Google Doodle will likely stay up until then.

You can check out the NASA Pluto YouTube channel to learn more.
