Google Now On Tap has been updated for Android. Google Now On Tap launched last year as a way to do search from anywhere on your Android phone.

Well, now it got even better. Instead of reading the whole page of text you are on, you can be more selective and highlight the phrase(s) or word(s) you want Google to search on. Google said "for example, if you’re reading a news article you can select a specific word, like crustacean, and get a definition and links to relevant apps."

But the cooler features are being able to go to your photos in any photo app on your Android device, including Google Photos and have Google figure out more information about that photo.

And it also works in real time via the Google Camera app:

Pretty cool, don't you think?

Bill Slawski added on Google+ "I blogged about a patent that would let you stand in front of an entity like a monument or the Golden Gate Bridge, and perform a search on it without naming it (based upon location and entity information)."

I suspect iOS users will see more of this via Gboard in the future.
