Google: I'd Love To Make Interstitials A Negative SEO Ranking Factor

Google's Gary Illyes said on Twitter that he'd love to make a new negative search engine ranking factor at Google for interstitials.

It is no surprise that Google, as a whole, dislikes interstitials, we've seen this time and time again from Google in their messaging. We also saw Google flip flop on a notice about them.

But trust me, it is coming. Eventually, I'd expect to see Google release a new negative ranking signal, mostly for the mobile SEO factor, but likely also on desktop, for interstitials.

Google says interstitials are not a good experience for users and they don't like them.
