click for full sizeGoogle announced this morning that it is "very important" to make your mobile web sites user friendly and devoted a whole blog post about the importance of autocomplete on mobile web sites.

Google said:

Making websites friendly and easy to browse for users on mobile devices is very important. We hope to see many forms marked up with the "autocomplete" attribute in the future.

Is this a hint at a new ranking algorithm coming soon around detecting forms and if they use autocomplete? Nope. I asked Gary Illyes about this on Google+ and he said, "Nope, i'm not hinting anything."

Either way, I find myself more often completing forms for online purchases and other forms online using my smartphone. Auto complete is huge for that and I am personally using it more often.
