Google Promises AMP Pages "Expanded Exposure" In Mobile Search Results

In a blog post this morning on the Google Webmaster Blog, Google decided to define "What is AMP?" This is part of Google's AMP series this week.

But in that blog post, Google also said that AMP pages will give you "expanded exposure" in the mobile search results. Here is the quote:

Later this year, all types of sites that create AMP pages will have expanded exposure across the entire Google Mobile Search results page, like e-commerce, entertainment, travel, recipe sites and many more.

Google specifically linked the expanded exposure phrase to the August 2nd announcement.

Of course, some SEOs are pulling that line out as a bit unusual.

It is not typical and Google is being careful how they say it but at the same time, it seems Google is using those words to really encourage webmasters to go forward with making AMP pages.

Google isn't specifically promising better rankings, just "expanded exposure" which would come through the carousels. But for that you need the structured markup on top of the AMP.
