Google: Stop Using Fake Google+ Profiles To Trick Users

Oct 18, 2013 - 8:15 am 12 by

socialI don't get it and this happens from time to time. A site owner is upset his site is not ranking well. He goes onto the Google Webmaster Help forums to complain and a Googler comes in and outs his practices.

This example is of a site owner who seems to be using fake Google+ profiles, with real big names in the industry to promote a medical site.

John Mueller of Google, responded in a thread, without arresting her:

Since you ask "I am a doctor by profession but interested to know about webmasters daily activity in current scenario." I think one thing worth mentioning is that there are a bunch of fake Google+ profiles promoting your employer's site. Perhaps it's worth contacting the website's SEO company to ask why they would do that -- dropping links like that is generally a bad idea, and impersonating users while promoting a medical site is definitely something I personally wouldn't recommend doing.

How does one respond to that?

It is a shame to see this, it means I am not doing a good job communicating this to message to people.

Either way, stop trying to trick Google and if you do, don't complain about rankings in a forum thread run by Google.
