Facebook #Hashtags

Facebook now finally supports #hashtags, what took so long? I am not sure. Facebook talks about how this will help solve problems with search, discovery, participation and socially connecting. So why did they wait all this time? Well, maybe because it can look spammy?

Now hashtags will be clickable on Facebook just like on every other social network including Twitter, Tumblr, or Pinterest. When you click on a hashtag in Facebook, you'll see a feed of what other people and Pages are saying about that event or topic.

Facebook said you can do three things with hashtags on Facebook now:

  • Search for a specific hashtag from your search bar. For example, #NBAFinals.
  • Click on hashtags that originate on other services, such as Instagram.
  • Compose posts directly from the hashtag feed and search results.

Will you #hashtag your posts?
