Embarrassing Google India Independence Day Logo Typo

Yesterday, August 15th, was India's independence day. Google had a beautiful logo up for the day, it was animated and done very well. Except, there was one small problem, when you clicked through, you received a "did you mean" result, because it was spelled wrong.

Here is a picture of the logo:

But like I said, if you clicked through on the logo, it took you to [India Indpendence Day], where Independence was spelled 'Indpendence.'

Kind of embarrassing, don't you think? The typo wasn't live long.

Googler, JohnMu in a Google Webmaster Help thread responded after a number of complaints:

Thanks for reporting this embarrassing issue. I believe it should be fixed now.

Of course, this wasn't John's fault, but he likely was able to expedite the fix.
