Google Webmaster Support Over New Years Via JohnMu

When we saw Googlers helping on Christmas, we were not surprised. Why? Simply because they have done it the year before as well. But I don't believe I ever saw a Googler posting on New Years until yesterday.

JohnMu, a fairly recent addition to the Google Webmaster Central team, did at least two posts during the New Year celebration.

He posted at Google Groups during New Years eve and at Cre8asite Forums on January 1, 2008.

John's advice at Cre8asite Forums was on using alternative text for images:

If you want your content indexed by search engines, it always makes sense to provide it in a text form (or at least in an alt-attribute of an image). Text is still the only way you can make sure that your message can reach all visitors. I'm curious, do you all see that changing in the future? Where would it make sense to read text from images and make it searchable (other than EGOL's mentioned spam tests)?

JLH has a great post named The Google Webmaster Help(ing) Googlers, which is a compilation of the various Google reps helping webmasters out in Google Groups.

In any event, Happy New Year everyone and let's make the search industry even better in 2008!

Forum discussion at Cre8asite Forums and Google Groups.
