Feedback Box: Ads Here - Ads There

Sep 9, 2005 - 8:27 am 2 by

Many of you probably notice the addition of contextual ads to this site. The primary reason is to test out YPN versus Google AdSense. Yesterday, I was able to set up a method to dynamically rotate between contextual networks, and I am testing both YPN and Google AdSense, and two flavors of each. I hope they are not too annoying, but if they are, let me know by commenting here or emailing me at [email protected].

In addition, I have been experimenting with Google AdSense in the RSS Feeds. I have put the AdSense in every 3rd entry for the abstract entries and every entry for the full entries. This week, I switched to FeedBurner's advertiser, to test that out. I plan on testing YPN's version, if and when it comes out as well. I expect some of you to be annoyed by it. So again, please let me know by commenting here or emailing me at [email protected].

Ultimately, I see all rss feeds containing ads of some sort. RSS is like how the Web first was, clean of ads. But, they too, one day will be commercialized. It is sad, but I see that happening. Not sure if I will keep them here or not. Hence the feedback request.
