YouTube Extends Upload Limit Past 2.5 Hours

YouTube announced they have extended the upload limits to "videos that are longer than 15 minutes." They did this for "selected users with a history of complying with the YouTube Community Guidelines."

How would you know if you are one of those users who have it? YouTube said go to the upload section and it would give you a message. Personally I do not see this, I believe I have had unlimited upload rights for a while now, but some do.

As you can see, the video restrictions still say up to 15 minutes but it says:

Congratulations! Your account is now enabled for uploads longer than 15 minutes. Click the Upload button below to select a video.

I personally don't see restrictions in my upload section. Here is a picture:

Anyway, I am a weekly publisher on YouTube, so I am glad to see this limit extended. Exactly how much was it extended? Hard to say, folks in the YouTube Help forum said they uploaded a video which was about 2.5 hours. So at least that long.

This is pretty awesome! The problem is that, one of my accounts got the unlimited deal, but another didn't (I guess I've uploaded some stuff I shouldn't have...). Oh well I'll just have to use my account that has it enabled, and then add it to a playlist on the account that DOESN't have it.

You probably have a strike against your account. Don't worry, they'll roll this out to everyone eventually, but for now it's for people who have ZERO strikes.

Thanks Man. Can It be the reason that my account is yet new? (like 3 months)

perhaps. Looks like you are pretty active though, so I'm sure you'll get it soon. There are other video hosting websites that support unlimited time videos, you could try one of those.

Oh wow! It's really awesome to have the video upload time extended to unlimited! But we should see if the extended time is applied to all or not and that if the video is viewable to all or to friends or to selected people. Anyways, I am really excited to check it out with my account....Thanks for the update!
