Fix Coming For Google "We Currently Do Not Support The Location"

Google We Currently Do Not Support The LocationVanessa from Google started a thread at Google Places Help saying Google is working on a fix for the "We do not support this location" bug within Google Maps/Places.

This is not an new issue, like many Google Maps issues. We reported this issue about a month ago. Google said then it would take a week to fix.

Vanessa started a new thread to let people know Google is aware of the issue and is working on it. She said:

A bunch of you have reported seeing "We currently do not support this location" on your listing. We're working on a fix right now and will keep you posted on progress.

I thought Google might have some computer experts who knew how to handle computer problems. I hope they will soon hire some. My business was shut down by Google two months ago and they can't seem to understand that when a business is deleted, it can be killed by their actions. COME ON GOOGLE: hire some good computer people!

Here is the problem with "We currently do not support the location" in my view: Google has many "layers" of local business data, because it obtains this data in many ways: - via business owners - via UGC - via feeds - directly via trusted providers (buying it) - via scraping the net All this data needs to be consolidated and in the process of this consolidation some changes in the data clusters Google has occur - some clusters merge, others get deleted, new ones show up. The Local Business Center (Google Places for business) is a separate part of the mix, i.e. it is not necessarily ultimately connected to a particular cluster. Google needs some time to sort out which cluster is associated to which LBC, so usually during this period of sorting out "We currently do not support the location" pops up. This is just my personal opinion based on observations though.

Google offers Places for free, but links a high importance to it in its search.  No support and it effects our visibility big time!  This is really starting to suck!

May 16 2012 Google Places deleted our business listing (again) and when I go to check our listing I find "We currently do nto support the location". Obviously, Google has not corrected the problem and is still allowing some of its employees to delete businesses that have been repeatedly verified.

My Business LifeGuy.com used to show at my home address, and now since I switched to a business address it just disappeared off the map completely. I get the same error - not supporting the location. This is strange, since it's in the middle of Naples Florida, in the same building as other businesses, which are showing on the map.

This has to be the most frustrating issue ever! All I wanted to do was add a website to my Dad's business listing and now it's dropped off the face of the earth and there seems to be little I can do. I have gone back and forth with the google maps reviewers on this countless times and they keep telling me to add the business to Google Places at http://www.google.com/places. I DID like a month ago and they keep coming back saying the same thing. This is crazy, I should have just left the listing alone. At least people would be able to find his business and read all the positive reviews then. Really hoping this gets resolved sooner than later.

The fix that used to work was to log into your account, go to business profile then select your business name on your Google Places listing. On the right is a "Share an update on your place page", add something and within 10 min your site was live. I'm testing this right now on a new listing that is showing "We currently do not support the location" but it hasn't worked yet.

06/28/2012 11:24 am

I too didn't understand why is this occurring? What happened to Google places new listings? I have submitted 3 business on the Google place, One is active, but when trying to see my listing on the maps, the same message is showing "We currently do not support the location". I searched several times for this issue, but didn't got any satisfactory answers. And my other two businesses are still pending, I didn't got any pin from the Google yet. It has been more than 1 month when I submitted my websites.

Charles Lloyd

06/28/2012 09:46 pm

While Google may say they are fixing it (Vanessa), they have yet to do so. Many listings are stuck in this "We currently do not support the location" holding pattern while thousands if not millions of businesses suffer from the collateral damage by their poor data management. Sadly, the Google Places marketing community is too scared to call it like it is - no less than an ongoing failure of Google's local business data management to serve users and businesses alike in a competent manner. So, the claim that the "bug" is somehow being fixed (Vanessa's claim) is a joke nearly 2 months later. That's how it is - now the Google gods can strike their lightning as my blasphemy is blatant but true.

We are one more business affected by this. Have been on the "we currently do not support this location" limbo for almost 2 months now. It's ridiculous It happened after I edited the profile to submit a new picture. How frustrating is that. Nobody to talk to. Nowhere to send a message. In the meantime our company losing business every day. We rank No. 1 on the organic aspect of it, but not being in the maps it is really affecting us. Anybody wants to start a collective petition? I have no time to do it.

Charles Lloyd

07/02/2012 02:47 pm

That's actually a very good idea. Perhaps I'll get to an effort like that this month and post a blog to be a lightning rod for Google Places data problems.

Charles, you nailed it. Google Places is broken. Google's response is that it's just a glich. Clearly this is not the case. I find it particularly frustrating that Google won't admit to the problem and provide an estimate of when they expect to have it sorted out.

Best answer-vanessagene(Google Employee)Go to this answerAll: We've pushed out a fix for this issue, and most listings are back up. You can try Edit > Submit in your Places dashboard to see if that gives you a solution. Although we changed our address in GP over 5 months ago, it still does not show the right address. Submitted a fix request to Google, finally had someone call few days ago and explained to them the address issue. He said it would be fix in a day, well now we get the dreaded "we currently do not support..." message in our GP listing. At least before we had the GP listing up even with the wrong adresss. Come one Google get your act together!

I too am having the same issue! My company listing was on "Google maps" yesterday and went to check it today and *!WHAMO!* not there "we currently do not support that location" im not even sure what this means or why it would happen but its must it gets resolved in a timely fashion, I pay a great deal of money through "Google add words" and i certainly do not make you wait for your payment, so why are these issues still present?

We currently do not support the location Google map have problems not only with a Business location but also I've tried typing my address and the results gave me the front of my place but gave me the Postal Code of an address completely at the other end of the street A Google employee called me last week and asked if I have tried to delete my place of Business and i also talked about the problem of the postal code he told me that it will be fixed although if we are not paying for it it might just take a lot of time to fix if even they get around to fixing it at all Just another multimillion dollar corporation that just don't care for the peasants.
