Google AdSense 10 Years Old: Which Was Your Best Year?

Google AdSense 10 YearsGoogle AdSense is ten years old today and Google wants everyone to know about it - as they should. AdSense has given Google a way to bring in a nice and sizable secondary source of income, outside of basic search ads. They are now the largest in the display ad business because of it and their acquisition of DoubleClick.

More importantly, AdSense has created industries that never once existed, including algorithms (Panda) that never existed. AdSense has helped families buy homes, pay for tuition, and pay off debt but it has also led to the collapse of those same families, put people into debt and caused many issues. Again, terminations, Panda, abuse, etc.

That being said, AdSense has made an impact on us all. Either directly as publishers or advertisers or indirectly as webmasters or SEOs who have built sites or had algorithms impact our sites in response to the AdSense community.

It has been a crazy ten years with Google on both the paid and organic side.

Out of curiosity, if you are or were a publisher, what was your best year in terms of revenue from Google AdSense over the ten years. Please have your friends take the poll:

I voted other with "None, they banned me without good reason", because that's exactly what they did. I'm not the only one either, they've done it to a handful of people I know personally, again without good reason or any reason given at all.

Off topic: "Google filed a court petition Tuesday demanding it be allowed to share information about government surveillance programs with the public." - This is only AFTER the public found out about it - Duh Google, we trust you not

2010 and 2011 for me. Everything went down after I stopped updating my site...too tired.

During the last 6 months before Panda and Penguin update of April/2012 I made twice of what I've done this last year and 2 months after those stupid b&w updates.

That is a ridiculous statement. Bing is miniscule compared to Google in terms of search share. I hope you don't take clients, because that kind of advice, and the mindset it illuminates, is dripping with ignorance.

What were they going to do, file a public motion about a classified government surveillance program before it has been leaked? The phrase 'NDA' was practically made for situations like the one Google, and other search engines/telecommunications companies were in. You may have legitimate gripes with the system and those involved, but how about using some common sense?

Very naive EThalon. Google was nowhere when Bing was everywhere. You really think things are static on the internet? LOL - "how about using some common sense"

My best year was exactly, just before the Panda/Penguin attacks. After that, it's become barely beer money. Almost not worth my time to have it on my blogs any more.

I left the adsense race and I use a Bitcoin Ad Network called CoinURL. Now I am getting earnings like I was in the early days.

I would have to say 2012. Lots of things changed on several fronts.
