SMX Advanced 2010: SEO For Google Vs. Bing: How Different Are They?

I wasn't planning on live blogging SMX Advanced 2010, but hey - I heard one live blogger hurt her toe nail and couldn't make it. So I decided, I'll dust off the keyboard and provide live blogging for SMX Advanced.

The first session is SEO for Google vs Bing. Yea, no need for Yahoo here and no need for here either, so let's just focus on Google and Bing. On this panel:

  • Moderator: Danny Sullivan, Editor-in-Chief, Search Engine Land
  • Q&A Moderator: Duane Forrester, Senior Program Manager SEO, Microsoft
  • Matt Cutts, Software Engineer, Google Inc.
  • Janet Driscoll Miller, President and CEO, Search Mojo
  • Rand Fishkin, CEO & Co-Founder, SEOmoz
  • Sasi Parthasarathy, Program Manager, Bing, Microsoft

I cannot get the movies to play in Chrome. As far as I can tell, Evan Fishkin is the only blogger covering this session to point out that Matt and Sasi disagreed with virtually all of Rand's conclusions (except the general point: don't make specific changes for search engines). The problem with the SEOmoz presentation is that it is only documenting the behavior of SEOs in competitive queries -- it is completely unrevealing about search algorithms. Matt pointed out that the queries in the sample set are 1] extremely samll (11,000 out of nearly 3 billion) and targeted toward queries that are extremely competitive (so that about all Google has to work with on the front page is hyperoptimized content).

I m sorry if i missed something, but can anyone point out a single "NEW" thing in this whole presentation :-/ 1. Exact keywords with .com TLD or sub domains this is the basic thing that even a one month old(in terms of learning) seo can tell you 2. Links Wow! Like the people sitting there don't know but links diversity with anchor word variations :S right? 3. kindly stop the word using "ADVANCE" with this session...Please....FOR THE SAKE OF SEO :(
