Google Toolbar Showing Buggy PageRank Data?

Now that we know that toolbar PageRank does not mean all that much, in terms of ones ranking at this point in time - we can discuss a possible bug in the Google Toolbar.

A WebmasterWorld thread has dozens of people reporting that old and trusted sites are now showing a PageRank 0 (PR0) score.

If it happened to their site, some are clarifying that they have seen no significant change in traffic data. That is just one more sign that the toolbar PageRank doesn't impact your rankings directly.

But is there some sort of bug with the toolbar?

online PR checking tools that work vs. toolbar XML have problem since TB XML Ranks all dropped to 0 several days ago. However toolbar for features (including) ranks still works fine. IE toolbar works vs. featured data, so it should be ok.

There was some updates in Google toolbar, all non-google tools must update Google Pagerank request urls.
I had used http-log plugin in Outpost Firewall and discover current native toolbar's request url:
http://toolbarqueries.google.com/search?client=navclient-auto&iqrn=Mvv&orig=0J&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&querytime=Dd&features=Rank:&q=%QUERY%&ch=%QUERY_CHECKSUM%
I had checked it in my php checkers - all worked correctly.

I've heard that there's a Google PR update in progress. Could that be the progress?

I think Toolbar PR is ok for an indication, but Live PR is more valid for an idea of spidering frequency.

What is the link building directory you were referring to?

thanks,
GeekMike!
