YouTube Asks For Feedback On iOS App

YouTube AppGoogle released a new YouTube app for iOS this week, prior to the iPhone 5 and iOS 6 release.

As you know, Apple dropped the YouTube app as a native app in iOS 6 and thus Google decided to come out with a downloadable app in the app store. The neat part is, if you click on links to YouTube videos, they actually open in the app if you have it. Otherwise, they play in your HTML5 Safari mobile browser.

The surprising thing is that YouTube only released an iPhone and iPod Touch version. They do not have an iPad version and I doubt it supports the larger iPhone 5 screen announced yesterday. That being said, most apps won't support the larger iPhone 5 screen out of the box and developers are scrambling to support it (including my company). iPad, is a surprise but YouTube rep said in a YouTube Help forum thread that they plan on supporting it within a few months.

More importantly, Google is looking for feedback on the app and the best place to submit it is in the YouTube Help.

If you want to see the new app, I did a post on it at Marketing Land.
