Here is a recap of what happened in the search forums today, through the eyes of the Search Engine Roundtable and other search forums on the web.

Search Engine Roundtable Stories:

  • Google Link Penalty Can Remove Rich Snippets/Results
Google has said they can issue a rich snippets or results manual action, removing the ability for the site from showing rich results in the Google listings. But do other penalties, like link penalties, also result in removal of rich snippets? It appears that may be the case.
  • Google: IP Addresses Don't Matter For Backlinks & Search Rankings

Kara from Google wrote in the Google My Business Help thread "When we launched the agency dashboard in June, some agencies struggled to smoothly migrate listings to organization accounts. Thanks to that feedback, we've now launched a new tool to help streamline the process of transferring listings to organization accounts!"
  • Google Hardware Store
Google is testing Google Hardware Stores across New York City and Chicago now. These seem a bit different than the pop up stores they have been doing, although Google is also calling them pop up stor
