Here is a recap of what happened in the search forums today, through the eyes of the Search Engine Roundtable and other search forums on the web.

Search Engine Roundtable Stories:

  • Reddit Thread On PBNs Caught Google's Attention
There is a thread at Reddit on the topic of someone building out a PBN, a public blog network. These are often used to manipulate Google's search results through link schemes. Well, Google's John Mueller commented on the thread saying "Sounds like an interesting plan."
  • President Donald Trump Says Google's Results Rigged Against Him & Republicans
President Donald Trump said on Twitter yesterday that the search results for his name, specifically [Trump News], is "rigged" and this "very serious situation-will be addressed!" Google responded saying "Search is not used to set a political agenda and we don't bias our results toward any political ideology."
  • Google Tests Grouping Two Search Results In One Box
Google is testing showing two different search results from the same domain name in a single search result box. Alex Quaye sent a screen shot, he is in the UK and searched for [eis tax relief] and Google returned two gov.uk results in a single outlined box.
  • Google Image Search Not Enlarging Image On Click
Starting yesterday I started noticing many many complaints in the Google Web Search Help Forums about Google Image Search. In short, some users were unable to trigger the preview to show a larger image, even after clicking on the image. Google is aware of the issue and is working on a fix.
  • Google Search Console August 19th Query Report Drop Clarified
Remember we reported that Google dropped anonymous queries from the Search Analytics and Performance reports in Google Search Console on August 19th? Well, Google is now clarifying that the data was never displayed but the queries they hide were previously used in the total sum but are now being removed from the total sum.
  • Poop Emoji Plush Toy At Google Office
Here is a pretty large sized plush poop emoji toy at one of the Google offices. Maybe this is to inspire the designers who create the emojis for Android and Chrome OS? Satyajeet Salgar posted this on
