Google SafeSearch For Network Administrators Goes Secure

Google Image Safe Search LockGoogle is migrating much of their infrastructure over to HTTPS still and the next thing is the feature to enable network administrators, mostly for schools, to lock down SafeSearch by force.

Google announced "organizations can require SafeSearch on their networks while at the same time ensuring that their users’ connections to Google remain encrypted."

The old method of locking down SafeSearch on the network level is being removed and discontinued in December. Trust me, I'll see the forums light up with complaints in December when the legacy support is dropped. But that legacy method is done over HTTP and not over HTTPS, and since Google hates the NSA, they are migrating everything to HTTPS.

If you are a network admin that deploys this already, you should review this new help document to change over now before your students get access to images you do not want them to see.
