Google looks like they might publish new guidelines and help documents around what to do now that the rel=next/prev is no longer supported. This news comes via Igal Stolpner on Twitter based on his notes from the Google Webmaster Conference in Tel Aviv a week ago.
Igal posted on Twitter "Pagination without rel next/prev. New guidelines are coming up soon." He then added "I actually just meant that we should expect a new Webmaster Guidelines update on pagination coming up sometime soon."
Google did offer some advice around this shortly after the rel=prev/next news came out but having a help document on pagination when rel=prev/next is gone would be super useful.
