Did Google News Adjust Their Search Ranking Algorithm?

May 1, 2015 - 7:25 am 4 by

Google NewsOver the past week or so, I've been seeing random complaints in the Google News Help forum, I linked to one, but there are others, of news publishers claiming they lost a lot of traffic from Google News.

Here are some of the quotes from these publishers:

We lost around 80% of our traffic.

I see some publishers have experienced noticeable improvement in traffic, and some other publishers have lost traffic.

We lost 80 to 90%

That is in just one of the threads.

We know it is not mobile related because currently Google News is unaffected by the mobile algorithm - at least for now.

I am not sure if there was some sort of ranking algorithm update with Google News or not, but there is an unusual number of complaints this week around the topic.

This site is in Google News and I have not noticed any changes to my traffic.
