Google: We Wont Use Fitbit Data For Search Ads

Google Fitbit Ads Search

When Google announced it bought Fitbit last week, the company wrote in the blog post "Fitbit health and wellness data will not be used for Google ads." But no real mention about organic search, so I joked Google can use steps a person does in a day as a search ranking signal. They won't, it was a joke.

But it is good to note that Google specifically said they won't be using the data for Google ads.

John Mueller from Google actually chimed into the jokes about search using Fitbit data in a serious manner. He said "On the one hand, I'd love to encourage more people to be active, when it's just a matter of getting up & doing something. On the other hand, there are many who legitimately can't, for many reasons, and we should take care to be as inclusive as possible."
