Google Anchor

On Friday we reported that Google was testing an AMP feature on desktop without AMP. This feature will take a searcher from a click on a featured snippet to that web site, anchor that user down to the appropriate text and highlight that text.

Google has confirmed on Twitter that it is running this test on 5% of the users.

Here are the tweets:

David Bokan, a google Chromium engineer, said "Google Search is currently running an origin trial for ~5% of WebAnswers results so it's kind of random whether you get opted into it or not. You can enable the feature on the client-side though using chrome://flags/#enable-text-fragment-anchor."

Forum discussion at Twitter.
