Eric Wu

This is part of the say something nice about an SEO/SEM series - feel free to nominate someone over here.

Eric Wu lives in Los Angeles, California with his wife and two daughters who he loves spending time with. I've known Eric for a while now, I think we first got to know each other hanging out in the video hangouts that John Mueller does. I even conned Eric to speak on some SEO technical sessions at SMX in the past. Eric is a really smart person, both on the technical front and the way he comes off when talking to others. He is just really bright, able to communicate his message in a clear and actionable manner and he is sincerer about it in every way.

Eric is super technical and has a way of looking at a technical issue and finding a creative but logical manner to tackle it. He is incredibly nice, giving, sharing and loves to help people in the industry and near him.

Eric is one of the good guys and I am glad I know him.

Wissam Dandan nominated Eric and wrote:

IMO, Eric is the one of the most knowledgeable persons in this industry. The technical and creative aptitude that he brings to each project we work on is exceptional.

Favorite thing about the SEO community? Even through all the drama and controversy, the best thing about the SEO community is the openness to share information and critically provide feedback to further grow the knowledge and reach of the industry.

One piece of advice to the SEOs out there? Listen to your peers, learn from the pundits, but test everything for yourself. If being in this field for nearly 2 decades has taught me anything, it's that what works in 1 scenario doesn't always work the same way in another scenario, even some of the most basic held beliefs.

Favorite things in general?

  • Favorite food » carne asada fries
  • Favorite thing to do » hanging out with the wife and my 2 daughters

What you want to be known for in the SEO space? While companies hire me to help with large site SEO, especially for Technical SEO (i.e. javascript issues, applied machine learning); I hope to find the right way to impact individuals through mentoring and career building, especially underrepresented groups in the field.
