34% Of Google Search Results Are HTTPS

Gary Illyes from Google said last week at SMX Advanced that 34% of the Google search results are HTTPS.

We know Google began indexing HTTPS by default back in December of last year.

But still, 1/3rd of Google's search results being HTTPS is a big deal.

Mozcast features shows it at about 32% right now. During Pete Meyers presentation, the HTTPS figure jumped drastically when went HTTPS, which makes for much of Google's first page rankings.

Either way, Gary Illyes warned that as more and more of Google's index becomes HTTPS, that ranking signal can be turned up and up.

Update: Gary did not say 34%, he said around 30%. I am not sure where all the tweets about 34% came from...
