YouTube LogoIn some cases, when you conduct a search at the world's second largest search engine, YouTube, the results may be crossed out.

Here are some pictures, notice how the search query you entered may have crossed out keywords.

YouTube Crossed Out Query

At first I thought the words that were crossed out might be stop words or words that do not relate to the query. But "people" or "marathon" or "organizations" would be equivalent to "and" or "or" and so on?

I am now thinking that the words that are crossed off are the words not matched in the search query. Meaning, the word "marathon" was not found in the search results for this long search query. Maybe?

I think so too. To me it looks like the "showing result for ..." or "did you mean" you sometimes get in google. But don't you get this only when you type in an exact search query (with quotes)? I think they broaden the query in order to be able to show more results.

That makes sense. They're removing elements of your exact match search instead of showing you no results. They've been doing this for a while, but only now are actually showing you which words they removed from your query.
