yahoo search logoYahoo announced they launched a new design for their Yahoo Search search results page.

The new design promises an improvement, by:

  • Improving the load time of the results
  • Moving the search results higher up on the page
  • Adding the new navigation bar at the top of the page
  • Having a more consistent look with the Yahoo homepage

Yahoo also promises to roll out the top bar you see on the home page and on the search results page throughout more and more Yahoo properties going forward.

Here is a video of the new look:

Seems like webmasters are happy with the change.

I like that they're making an effort. I don't like that they have paid ads at the top and the bottom and that funky sliding gallery below the top ads. Just too much clutter Yahoo. Something Google has not done is offer a randomizer feature. Example: instead of going page by page by page and searches getting more repeat of the sale olde and more distant, why not offer a button to offer other results based on a varied algorithm? Something I noticed in the difference in Yahoo vs Google, example: In the past Google used to have quite different results for Naples Florida Real Estate, Naples Real Estate and Naples Fl Real Estate. Like Yahoo now. Google kinda blended them into one. What if I was looking for Naples Italy Real Estate by typing Naples Real Estate? Google says I can only look in America :-( Another thing Yahoo, I love your LOCAL search for businesses. But you can't find it in the 'more' drop down. Same with ANSWERS. Another screw up, is when you're browsing in LOCAL, your banner is for YAHOO LOCAL. The Banner should be consistent in ALL Yahoo pages and take you back to the HOMEPAGE. This is basic navigational aids you've messed up. Hope that helps Yahoo and gets them rich and famous

quality of Yahoo search still beats Google by a mile. I hope Marissa will not destroy it by trying to look more like Google...

'Looking' like Google is not the problem for any company. Behaving like Google is what would normally put someone in jail.

Is it just me or are the colors not right? If I stare at the search result page for a few seconds, the colors start changing like some psychedelic trip!
