Project Loon At GooglePlex (Internet Balloon)

I am sure you've heard all the chatter about Google's next wild idea, a internet enabled balloon to provide internet to those in remote areas. Google calls this Project Loon. Well, Google demonstrated it at the GooglePlex yesterday.

Dozens of Googlers snapped pictures from their smart phones as well as their Google Glass.

Many posted it on Google+ and some on Twitter and here are just a few pictures from Googlers.

To learn more about what this is all about, see google.com/loon.

This post is part of our daily Search Photo of the Day column, where we find fun and interesting photos related to the search industry and share them with our readers.

God, I wish I had that dinosaur for my nephew, he would love it. Oh, and the balloon is nifty too.

What a waste of helium. We have an imminent shortage, and this is how they plan to use it all up.

Potentially delivering almost the totality of our species' knowledge to those who could not previously access it reliably and potentially impacting their lives for the better is a waste of helium? Maybe we should all stop with the helium filled mylar birthday balloons first.

I wasn't talking about Google Loon. I was referring to car dealerships. Every time I drive by them, there are dozens of balloons tied to each car. They need to stop wasting helium.
