Google Design TestRubén spotted a new interface design and posted a YouTube video of it in action. He posted the details on Google Blogoscoped Forums and his blog and describes how you can change your cookies to see this test.

The video shows how the left search filters and the middle search results have their own scroll bars. Here is the video:

This is a pretty interesting test and I am not sure if it will last, but it does seem like Google is testing this internally.

Update: This is now confirmed, Google told me "Google is always experimenting with new features."

I hope it should be last one and we will see the multiple scrolling search screen very early... :) -Seo

Are we sure this is not a template mistake?

This would seem to tie-in nicely with their infinite results page that they're testing.

It already does that somewhat similarly in Image search (which has "infinite scroll") so I'd believe they add this to regular search when/if infinite scroll gets added.

It's worthless. Nothing special with two new columns. Anyway thanks for sharing this wonderful article with us.

This is now confirmed, Google told me "Google is always experimenting with new features." Nice statement from Google! :D
