UK SEOs Say Possible Google Penguin Refresh

Jul 31, 2012 • 8:25 am | comments (14) by twitter Google+ | Filed Under Google PageRank & Algorithm Updates

Google Penguin UpdateThere are some very early reports in the WebmasterWorld thread and some comments here that are suggesting Google might be pushing out a Penguin update now.

It is way too early to be confident there is an update happening right now, but there are some early warning signs.

Pete Hall at WebmasterWorld said:

What on earth has gone down in the UK today?

I've seen a site drop a huge amount. Penguin?

Richard Merry commented here saying:

I'm in the UK and on the 27th July 2012 many of the keywords my site ranked at the top, moved down to over 100 places and a few of my clients sites signicantly moved down as well.

Again, these are just early warning signs.

It might be something completely unrelated to Penguin or Panda but it is hard to tell right now.

The last Penguin refresh was on May 25th and the last Panda refresh was on June 24th, so we are definitely due a Penguin refresh.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the 27th was exactly one week on since the big wave of WMT warnings everyone was getting on the 20th, so perhaps the drops people are seeing are a result of that as there is usually a 7-10 day lull period before action is taken?

Looks like Google has unleashed again another animal, what's next with panda and penguin? I'm afraid Google will turn our world upside down again.

There was a panda refresh on July 24th and it takes time to settle down..IMHO

A better solution would be to refresh the head of Google Webspam!

Wanna see more crap result ? just type "melatonin dosage" on Google US Search result. What you will see on number 1 search result is an exact domain site (less than a year old site) that copied all of its content from (quality site with several hundred pages built 2008). And yet the original site is nowhere hear page 10. What a Joke !!!!

A UK based client I have just taken on had a 40% drop in search engine visibility between the 27th and now. Dropping 40-60 places for competitive keywords they have ranked top 5 for, for a long time. A few other UK based sites I monitor have seen fluxuations too, both positive and negative.

Serps for a site I develop for fell drastically for some terms, as much as 30 places. They've now come back to where they were previously, and some have gone up. I wonder if the dance has settled?
