Google 404s The Old Google Analytics

Google Analytics LogoGoogle Analytics announced they have finally completely sunsetted the old version of Google Analytics.

You can now only use the new UI (user interface) for Google Analytics. This is a really long time coming.

The new UI was released in March 2011 and became available to everyone a few months after that.

Many didn't want to upgrade, so Google gave users a way to access the old Analytics.

But now, over a year later, Google has decided to completely stop supporting the old interface and require users to use the new one.

Those who have not upgraded are not happy because they are missing some familiar reports. But it is what it is and you got to upgrade.

What was wrong with having both versions available?

I agree. Google Analytics can be intimidating enough for site owners without having to relearn how to pull the data they need. I have nothing against the new version, but it didn't really hurt anything to have the old version still active, did it?

Exactly, it can be frustrating for some users who were still using older version. I mean you make them learn an application and then you roll out a new version of the same and ask them to learn this one now. Quite annoying.

I'm sure supporting the 2 versions had a significant cost, both in terms of human resources and also in terms of focus for the product team.

In old version, Export to PDF report is generating full statistics overview. But new version only generate what we view portion.

Most web apps simply update their UIs without notice or classic option. I thought it was pretty kind that Google offered both UIs for that long.

Well new one is good but more complicated or it is new so we are finding it so difficult but old one was good. But anyway we should accept the change.
