Google Alerts Perk Up After Hummingbird Launch?

Google AlertsGoogle Alerts has seen some maintenance by Google's engineers recently. It added back the RSS option after losing it. There were also reports of the alerts not working for many.

In the past few weeks or so, it seems that Google Alerts have been increasing in activity. Maybe Google fixed something directly with Google Alerts or maybe it is related to the Google Hummingbird release? I am not exactly sure.

But I am personally seeing a lot more Google Alerts, as is one other person in WebmasterWorld. I do suspect others are as well but just not reporting it.

In fact, I see someone is attempting a negative SEO attack on my company web site:

Which one of you are at it?

Barry, you caught me. Rustybrick is going down...and then back up again but if for more than four hours you should probably contact your doctor.

My alerts have been screwed up for over a month. No idea of whether this is related to Hummingbird, although I suppose it could be since Hummingbird was supposedly a complete rewrite.

"In fact, I see someone is attempting a negative SEO attack on my company web site" Barry, don't create myths, just read a bit how the spammers work. It has nothing to do with your company web site or with you.

Its just pharma spammers, nothing to do with you personally. I see thousands of links like this on a daily basis. Get enough of this crap and it could possibly trigger a penguin penalty for you though.

I've been getting hammered with a large increase in notifications that started a few weeks ago. I thought it was just me. Thanks for the info!

Yeah its going down. I have been tracking Rustybrick for quite a long time and it used to be in top 10 for "web development new york", now it's at 14, for for "website development new york" is in 18 position. Everyone may fire on me for still running for keywords instead of ENTITY but it's still the fact, keywords do matter even it doesn't show for Google results. Check the negative SEO Barry...

In today scenario Ethical SEO is a joke whereas as Viagra SEO is a money making business. Create new websites, buy/spam links, get into the top for few months, make money and after getting hit, start afresh with a new website.
