Google AdSense Ads Without Ad URLs

Google AdSense logoSome Google AdSense publishers are reporting seeing AdSense ad units without the URL and fav icon displaying.

Folks at WebmasterWorld have reported this saying Google is testing an ad unit that removes the URL and icon.

A typical AdSense unit may look like this:

But the reports say Google is testing only showing the title, description and arrow in the ad unit.

AdSense is constantly testing different style ads to see how it impacts click through rates and visibility.

I do not yet have a screen shot of this in action, if you have any, please add it to the comments below.

Yea I would be curious to see the lift. Technically more real estate though on an ad does in theory lead to more CTR. So I guess maybe that's what they are trying to do to get rid of possible click frauds,,,,

The adsense ad unit now shows title then it animates itself to description of ad all big. Like one I see on ur site now

This will be exploited with fake "download now" links and the like... It will be easier to blend it into a site theme. It should be good for sites without established brands, but it will make it harder for new brands to be established... There is something to be said for people learning your brand from the ads they see all over the place. I'm skeptical but watching. I think the net effect will be loss of trust in the ads which should lower performance.

I completely agree though on behalf of publishers as I am an adsense expert, Google is trying to increase their revenue and revenue if their adsense partners . Like SEroundtable
