Poll: Which Sites Were Hit Worst By Panda?

Google Panda Update 2.2A Sphinn has discussion around a post by Pixelrage on what types of sites were hit hardest by the Google Panda update.

He listed the following:

  • Affiliate Storefronts
  • Parked domains
  • Microsites
  • Sites targeting short-tail keyword
  • Sites not updated often

While this may or may not be true on a general level, I know a lot of you were hit by the Panda update. Please take our poll below and select all the site types that you think were hit the most by the Panda update.

I am no longer going to bullet point all the stories I've posted on Panda below. Instead, use this Panda page to learn more about all the Panda posts we have here and it is more than any other site.

You might add directory sites; I know several instances where industry directories got socked bigtime.

Disturbing how many are saying econmerce got hit. I have to think these are collateral damage due to lots and lots of similar pages with few deep links to them, but that's pretty much the profile of an econmerce site. Will Google act to mitigate this, or just push more users to their own upcoming econmerce properties and to Product Search?

I don't agree with the statement that 'e-commerce' site were hit. Amazon was one of the big winners of Panda. We should not try to figure out 'what type of sites' got hit since this only leads to more wild speculation. Instead we should look what type of content got hit. And we can clearly see that it is shallow and thin content - no matter which type of site it is on. Directory sites were hit because most of them are very unattractive and not useful. Most content farms were hit because they don't offer much value to users. Yet at least one content farm profited from Panda: Wikipedia. Yes, Wikipedia is a content farm or what else should we call it? So look at the content - not at the type of site.
