A WebmasterWorld thread has webmasters discussing the possibility of using Bing Box, Microsoft Bing's do-it-yourself search engine on their web sites.
As you can see, we currently use a Google Custom Search Engine here but would I consider switching to Bing Box? Sure. Why not?
WebmasterWorld members are interesting in switching for many reasons. Here is one webmaster's post:
I'm looking for a replacement for "AdSense for Search". Quite frankly Google has enough of my visitor's behavior.I know using this gives MS the data too, but at least it reduces the amount of info Google gathers in a day.
One webmaster gave us his early impressions:
- Easy to set up
- Results are excellent
- Results look good
- Search box books better the Google
- Likes the pop-up results window
- It loads in all test browsers quickly except for Opera, sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't, strange.

Only point is that for some sites a large chunk of Adsense revenue can come from Google Custom search, so it's either suitable for those customising the search results page to show adsense manually or those not showing google adsense on their search results. If and when Bing expands their publisher platform it might be a commercial benefit to swap it out as Bing visitors typically convert well and generate good adsense revenue. I say why not give it a try

I replaced Google Custom Search on some sites with Bing Search a couple of years ago. It does a pretty good job but it's probably not the solution for everyone.

I wonder if anyone who has been using Google Custom Search Engine & has Google Analytics site search tracking enabled cares to share any changes in behaviour after changing to Bing Box?
