I am a bit shocked to learn that most link builders and SEOs don't find traffic to be all that important in buying or acquiring links from sites. I ran a poll a few months ago asking How Important Is Traffic Metrics In Link Buying?
The 106 results, yea - not many responses, were broken down as follows:
- 42% said Somewhat Important
- 25% said Little Importance
- 20% said Very Important
- 11% said Not Important
Only 20% said "very important" but overall most SEOs find it to be important on some level.

After pausing to think about this, it is less surprising to me. Based on discussions with other SEO's about backlink building that often digresses into some form or another of mass directory or social bookmarking methods where targeted (relevant) traffic is not likely to come from.

"mass directory or social bookmarking methods where targeted (relevant) traffic is not likely to come from." It's hard to imagine much of any value coming from such links. No wonder they spam the heck out of the Web.
