How To Show Google Base Products in Google AdWords Ads

A reader, Brad from Set Solid, sent me new information about Google showing products in AdWords ads. We covered this topic a few times, reporting on seeing such ads in Google several times in the past. Here is a screen shot of the ad:

Well, a reader sent me an email with an image of the Google Base administrative console. In the admin panel, it shows a new link to "Share with AdWords." Here is a screen capture of that section:

If you enter in your AdWords customer ID, it will link up your products with your ads. There is actually a new WebmasterWorld.

I noticed this last week also. However, in addition to adding your AdWords account info. to your Google Base account, you have to create a "Product Extension" in your AdWords campaign. The ability to create this "Product Extension" is not available in all AdWords accounts. So, while you can link your Adwords and Base accounts, the plus box is still not available to all advertisers.

Good post.

However how do you "create a Product Extension within the Campaign Settings section of your AdWords account and link it to your Google Base account" as it suggests to do in the Google help document?

Matt

Matt,

The document goes on to say: "Note: Currently, the ability to surface product information in your AdWords ads is only available for select Google Base providers in the US. However, we look forward to offering this feature to additional providers in the near future."

Unfortunately, if you don't see the ability to create a "Product Extension," the plus box is not available to you...yet.

Kevin

Thanks Kevin, great value add to the article. :-)

I'm getting ahead of myself here since none of the AdWords accounts I oversee are offering the Product Extension option yet, but is there any indication that user could eventually share one Google Base feed with multiple AdWords accounts?

Anyone have a screenshot of exactly where this "Product Extension" link will show up in adwords? Or maybe a GPS coordinate of some sort? It's getting hard to find random links in the adwords interface these days

Mike, the screen shot is above.

Thanks Barry but I meant in adwords where do I find the link to turn on "Product Extensions".

Good question Mike. Barry - a screen shot of the "product extensions" tab would be very helpful. If not, instructions how to locate the tab (assuming it's there) would also work.

Currently, the ability to surface product information in your AdWords ads is only available for select Google Base providers in the US.
For that reason you can't find the link to turn on "Product Extensions"

Hey guys,I just want to know does the plus box have additional charge?

Hi Fion, Yes the plus box will have an additional charge if you're using it through Adwords, you will have to pay for each click on your products the same as Adwords Ad clicks.
