Google Images January 2009 Update

I am now seeing early reports of a Google Image Search update via WebmasterWorld. The reports claim that Google has been adding new images to the image index and those images are now showing up in the search results.

That last Google Image Search update was in October and we see them every few months or so.

There is no word on if there was an update to the image filter. But we may see more reports coming in on that news soon. So, if you have been waiting for your new images to show up in Google, you may now be in luck.

I also saw yesterday that Google images is bringing back sponsored listings, which i have never noticed before.

Even the Google God’s are feeling the pinch, at these economic downturn times. I suppose they’re optimising their income.

I have just had an email from my Google rep on this matter:

"Last week we began an experiment showing text ads on Google Image Search. A small percentage of users around the world will see these ads on Image Search results pages. If your advertiser is currently opted into the search network (AFS), then their ads will be eligible to show for relevant queries as part of this experiment. During the experiment there will be no charge for clicks on theses ads. Since this is a random experiment, we cannot add particular advertisers to it."
