How Long Does it Take Yahoo to Index Your Site?

It seems to be the consensus on a DigitalPoint Forums thread that if you post your URL to Yahoo! Answers, Yahoo will index your site a lot quicker than you'd normally expect.

A member asks how long it takes for sites to start being indexed in Yahoo. Apparently, not long, if you utilize this practice. That's not to say that you should spam your site URL throughout Yahoo! Answers, but if your website is related to a question being asked and can help someone find the answers, then it may be useful.

A much older WebmasterWorld thread says that without this practice of linking in Yahoo! Answers, you can simply wait the standard time of 6 months to one year to be indexed.

Forum discussion continues at DigitalPoint Forums and WebmasterWorld.

Does it really take that long? In 2004, I oversaw the building of my company's first website. After the site went live I checked every week to see if it was showing up on the search engines. Within 4 weeks it was indexed on Yahoo. I believe the only link was from the web design company's site too. It may be anecdotal evidence, but that's honestly what I saw.

If you host with Yahoo!, you seem to get indexed more quickly. I've no idea why.

I really wish indexing could be faster, it's very frustrating to put all your energy into a website and be eager to see what visitors think just to find out you have to wait a month or more!

Dont understand why it takes so long to index...

1 Year? You've got to be joking! I read the other article but I still highly doubt that. Unless they specifically meant 1 year for "good ranking".

Yahoo answers is "nofollow". However nofollow backlinks still seem to show up in yahoo site explorer. Perhaps theyre not counted to the value?

host your site with yahoo then you get to index more as soon as possible.

When our site was first uploaded it took less than two weeks for Yahoo to index it. It found 3 pages of about 300 and two months later it still only shows 3 pages. Very strange!
