I just reported over at the SEW blog that Google to Switch from Intel to AMD Chips. That is huge from AMD, the news sprung the stock up by $1.40 to $40.07 that day. But more importantly, 200,000 lonely Opteron processors have found a new home at the Google server farm.

As far as I understand the news, Google is going to buy AMD processors for all new servers. So the 200.000 existing servers will probably not be switched to AMD.

"Just quoting the article. I am not sure." the article says it went up by $1.40 and ended on $40.07 so it started the day on $38.67
