Above is a higher resolution image of the Google Doodle for the Women's World Cup first U.S. match. You can click on the logo to see the higher resolution version.

This logo is currently only visible in the US.

In classic Google Doodle style, the imagery also forms the Google letters, and Google logo colors, while illustrating the special day's event.

Google actually launched this logo in other countries last week, but now it is in the US for their first match. Google blogged about it as the gender gap:

We care deeply about inspiring the next generation of girls to become leaders—whether they’re in the technology field or on the soccer pitch. So we got to thinking about how Search can help people discover all the amazing stories of women’s soccer that have historically been overlooked. During the 2015 Women’s World Cup, we’ll share search trends, stats and more to help you get to know these athletes and their talents on the field.
