Sites Registered In Google Search Console Are Much More Likely To Fix Compromised Sites

Google published on the Google research blog an interesting stat. If you register your site with the Google Search Console and you are hacked, you are much more likely to fix that hack or compromise than if you did not register with the Google Search Console.

Google said "webmasters who proactively registered their site with Search Console, we found that email communication led to 75% of webmasters re-securing their pages." "When we didn’t know a webmaster’s email address, browser warnings and search warnings helped 54% and 43% of sites clean up respectively," Google added.

That is a huge difference!

The reversal process "takes a median of 3 days," Google said.

Truth is, I am sure there are tons of sites that are abandoned that fall into that category. But still, webmasters who care about their site health should add Google Search Console, amongst other tools to their arsenal.

Over the last year Google detected nearly 800,000 compromised websites - roughly 16,500 new sites every week from around the globe.
