Google Repeats: Don't Remove Authorship Markup From Your Pages

Remember when Google killed off authorship in 2014? I am sure you do. But remember when I covered in October 2015 that Google says you should keep authorship markup on your site if you haven't removed it yet? Well - yea, that was a big surprise.

But Google's Gary Illyes reiterated that just the other week at SMX West. He said on stage if you have authorship on your pages already, leave it. He is aware of at least one team at Google looking at ways to use it.

Here are some tweets from when Gary said that at SMX West:

Gary Illyes did add that it might not be worth adding to new pages but if you have them on old pages, keep the code there he said.

So I guess that advice from October 2015 has not changed, which is interesting.

I am sure many of you miss my face in the search results.
