Today on the Google home page in Mexico and the United States of America, is a special logo, aka Doodle, for the Day of the Dead (Día de muertos 2014 Doodle).

Day of the Dead is a Mexican holiday but also observed in some other cultures. It is a family and friends holiday where they get together to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died.

It is a public holiday in Mexico and takes place on October 31, November 1 and November 2. It does have ties to Halloween. To learn more about the holiday see Wikipedia.
