Over the past couple of days, Google has been making some noise around health - not just the Fitbit news but around building out a search tool that helps doctors around medical research. The interesting thing is this may expand into a more user focused initiative, just like you would use to book flights using Google Flight search. David Feinberg, the head of Google Health, said at a conference that he wants Google search to give the most authoritative answers on medical and health searches.
The Next Web reported "It’s not immediately clear how much of the system has been actually built, but indications are that Mountain View is creating a separate landing page similar to Google Flights, but specifically for health search."
Google's medical and health results are pretty rich right now, showing high authoritative sources, with graphics and a ton of details. But Google seems to want to make something bigger and better for doctors. CNBC reported that David Feinberg, the head of Google Health, said Google is "looking to make it easier for doctors to search medical records, and to improve the quality of health-related search results for consumers across Google and YouTube." He said on stage, "Imagine a search bar on top of your EHR (electronic health record) that needs no training."
