Meet The Replacement Google

Google posted on their Google+ page a link to the Replacement Google at replacementgoogle.com.

Replacement Google

If you try it, Google takes you to a completely non-sensible search result. For example, I searched for [iphone] and Google returned [Does Canada have Sonic restaurants?]

Too funny.

Clearly Google is mocking the NFL's replacement referees.

How do you like the Replacement Google?

You have to love a tech company with a sense of humor. I typed in "Search Engine Optimization," and got "How much coffee is enough" instead. Ha! Wait...maybe that's actually relevant in some way. Has anybody done a study of how much caffeine is consumed by SEO people? Maybe Google is on to something that's just not immediately obvious. (I think I'm joking, but this is Google. Would they really just deliver a random search result? I'm betting that there's some correlation to something, but you'd have to do a lot of searches and perform a lot of analysis before finding the pattern.)

Google didn't make that though, it's just something someone named Erik Johnson made.

I tried a couple of different searches. Coffee became aardvarks. Replacement refs returned a search for 1983 TV shows (or something like that) and one of the links was failed TV shows. Jumbo CD Rates became Truman Show. I suspect the replacement site is randomally selecting a phrase from a DB that they house.

I could not tell the difference between the replacement results and the regular ones with all these panda/penguin updates...
